Overview of School of Statistics and Mathematics

        School of Statistics and Mathematics was established on March 2005 based on the former Department of Statistics and Computational Science and Group of Mathematics. The former part of Department of Statistics and Computational Science is Department of Planning Statistics, one of the earlier departments for teaching in Shandong Economic University, it had been having its own students since 1980. Group of Mathematics was established in 1961, one of the earliest groups in Shandong Economic University. Now the secretary of communist party in the branch of School of Statistics and Mathematics is? Mrs Wang, Jianxiang, the associate secretary is Mr. Gao, Feng, the dean of the school is Dr. Zhang, Xiaofei, the associate deans are Mr. Song, Tingshan and Mr. Liu, Guiji. School of Statistics and Mathematics has three majors for four-year undergraduate students which are statistics, information and computational science, and mathematics and applied mathematics, it also has three majors for master students which are statistics, technical economy and management,and national economics. School consists of 7 teaching and research groups, mathematical statistics, economic statistics, econometrics, information and computational science, mathematics for publics, mathematics and applied mathematics. There are one school-own library and three labs. It has a strong team of faculty. There are 80 faculty members with 13 professors and 11 associate professors, 12 of them are supervisor of master students, 55 faculty members have degree of master or Ph.D., 13 faculty members are in the university project of `231' outstanding people. Some faculty members have good academic reputation nationally.

       In School of Statistics and Mathematics, teaching and research are motivated by each other. In the recentseveral years, faculties in school published more than 200 significant academic papers, more than 20 high quality? books or textbooks with their characters. They have been undertaking more than 20 national or province level projects, and received more than 20 research awards of province level. Some faculties attended international academic conferences, several faculties possess important positions in academic organizations of nation or provinces. School of Statistics and Mathematics has had the tradition? of ``working together closely and thinking of progress, to be pragmatic and creative for many years to run a school. It insists on education while teaching, and development of morality of teachers and atmosphere of studying and teaching.
