Professor, member of communist party of China, graduated from Department of Mathematics at Shandong University in 1962. Professor Liu was born in July 1940, and is originally from Changzhou, Jiangsu province, China. From 1987 to 1988, he visited University of South Florida and University of Tempa in USA as a visiting scholar supported by National Committee of Education of China. Professor Liu has been to several foreign countries such as USA, Canada, Japan, and India, etc., to give lectures or attend the international academic conferences.
For these forty years, professor Liu has always been working on teaching and research in probability and mathematical statistics in universities or research institutes. His primary research area is limit theory of probability and measures, in the meanwhile he is also interested in applications, and the research area is risk process and non-life insurance actuarial. He is now professor of Institute of Statistics and Insurance Actuarial at Shandong Economic University, supervisor of Ph.D. students in statistics of Shandong University, adjunct professor of School of Mathematics and System Science at Shandong University, and vice president of committee of Probability and Statistics of Shandong province. Professor Liu received the award of Shandong Top Talented People in Professional Skills, and now has the government special subsidy from State Council of China. He undertook four projects supported by National Science Foundation, and one project indicated for Ph.D. programs supported by Ministry of Education of China, he was also principle investigator of four projects supported by Shandong Science Foundation. Professor Liu published more than 20 papers in top journals of China such as Science in China, Acta Mathematica Sinica, Acta Mathematicae Applicatae Sinica, Chinese Science Bulletin, Statistical Research, Chinese Journal of Management Science, Chinese Journal of Applied Probability and Statistics, and Application of Statistics and Management. In one of his papers, according to the characteristics of non-life insurance market in our country, he uses generalized linear model to study risk classification and set up the premium price calculation system, this result was published in Journal of Statistical Research, and it greatly attracted the attention of Ping An of China insurance company and Pacific Insurance Company of China. In 1996, Professor Liu cooperated with Professor Wenchuan Mo to investigate the research project of Shandong information science which is economic analysis of east and west of Shandong province and study of coordinate economy development, this project passed the evaluation in 1997 from Shandong Committee of Science. From 1999 to 2000, he participated a program which is training strategies for young officers directed by Ministry of Organization in Jinan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, and he was appointed the leader for expert group in forecasting and programming, this project was one of the important research projects of Ministry of Organization of China, and got the first level awards of research projects in Ministry of Organization of China in 2001.
